Ridima Sur is an astrophysicist and space governance researcher with experience across the UK, UAE, and international platforms. She holds an MSc in Astrophysics from the University of Glasgow, where she worked on laser interferometry for gravitational‑wave detection, and a BSc in Astronomy, Astrophysics, and Space Sciences from the University of Kent, focusing on space debris mitigation and micrometeorite analysis. Her early research included work at the Institute of Cosmology & Gravitation, University of Portsmouth, simulating supernovae to constrain the Hubble constant, and contributions to GU Orbit at Glasgow on a wildfire‑detection CubeSat mission concept.
Currently, Ridima is Professional Development Coordinator at the Space Generation Advisory Council (SGAC), leading projects on space law, policy, and sustainability. She has presented research at major conferences including GLEX and IAC, covering orbital resonance for debris mitigation, robotic debris removal, and space resource appropriation. She is also a Member of Common Futures Conversations at Chatham House, a McKinsey Forward Alumna, and a Research Analyst at Universal Inclusion, focusing on diversity and inclusivity in the space sector.
Her previous roles include Astronomical Observatory Intern at SAASST, UAE, where she developed satellite visibility models and policy frameworks for regional space situational awareness; Head of R&D at Space Point Publications; and advisor at SpacePoint AE, Dubai. Recognized as a Future Expert on the UAE Research Map and a mentee in the SWAN Elevate Mentoring Program, she has spoken at the British Interplanetary Society International Space Forum, GITEX, and delivered guest lectures at institutions such as the Chennai Institute of Technology.
Ridima’s long‑term goal is to advance frameworks that integrate science, law, and diplomacy to ensure humanity’s expansion into the Universe remains curious, responsible, and inclusive.
